Woody’s Bar-B-Q® Announces Winners of Its Celebrate Kindness Contest for Kids
Classic Southern BBQ Chain Hosted Promotion Encouraging Acts of Kindness from its Pint-Sized Patrons
October 29, 2021 // FranchiseMarketingSolutions // Jacksonville, Fl. – What began in July 2021 as an endeavor to encourage kids ten and under to complete acts of kindness has come to an end at participating Woody’s Bar-B-Q locations. The Celebrate Kindness Contest officially wrapped on September 18, with winners drawn on September 30. The classic Southern BBQ chain is proud to announce a TIE for winner of the Grand Prize of tickets for four to Universal Studios Orlando – sponsored by Coca-Cola and won by 4- and 5-year-old siblings, Aria and Landon Roberts. Aria and Landon – with the help of their mom and her great penmanship – each submitted ten acts of kindness at Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Macclenny. The winner of the second prize – a $100 Q Card – was 5-year-old, Samantha Johnson who turned in her contest submission at Woody’s Bar-B-Q of Ponte Vedra Beach.
“It’s not just about making great BBQ at Woody’s,” said Yolanda Mills-Mawman, Co-Founder and President of the Jacksonville-based BBQ franchise company. “We are also really dedicated to maintaining our reputation for providing excellent customer service to our patrons for the last 41 years. That customer service is founded in kindness – which means we’ve gotten really good at recognizing kindness in others. With everything that’s been going on in the world and so much of it being negative, we wanted to encourage kids to intentionally think about ways to be kind and complete at least ten acts of kindness to fill out our contest form. Instead of doing it merely for a chance of winning a prize, there will be a sense of pride Aria, Landon and Samantha will experience when they realize that THEY had a hand in bringing their folks to Universal Studios or out to dinner at Woody’s Bar-B-Q. We’re so proud of all the kids who took part in our Celebrate Kindness contest and hope they will continue to show kindness to everyone they meet – in ways big and small.”
Among Landon’s 10 acts of kindness, the Woody’s team was particularly charmed by the fact that he shared his snacks with friends at the park when they didn’t have any and that he picks flowers in his yard for his grandma because it makes her happy. As for Aria, what really caught the attention of the Woody’s team was that she feeds her dog Ella every day to help her mommy and she prays over her brother’s boo boos to heal when he gets hurt.
In addition to the inaugural year of its Celebrate Kindness contest, community-minded Woody’s Bar-B-Q has hosted spare rib eating contests to benefit a local charity, a free dine-in event for first responders and company-wide fundraisers for national charities like No Kid Hungry and Tim Tebow Foundation over the course of the last four decades.
