Planet Fitness is a United States franchise of fitness centers based in Newington, New Hampshire. This combination of customer experience has made Planet Fitness one of the fastest growing fitness brands in the world. Planet Fitness opened its 1,000th location in June 2015.

The Planet Fitness franchise system has more than 170 franchisees that own and operate over 900 Planet Fitness locations in the United States in just over 10 years of franchising. Franchisees have more than $1.5 billion invested in the Planet Fitness brand with their collective locations.

The PF Independent Franchisee Association
In May 2014 a number of franchisee leaders (including FAC Representatives) realized a more comprehensive approach to franchisee organization at the urging of many fellow franchisees. Shortly thereafter, the PF Independent Franchisee Association (PFIFA) became a reality. PFIFA, as an independent association and free from corporate control, is free to safeguard and enhance franchisee business interests and maintain and grow their equity. PFIFA aims to support franchisees in a strategic-planning capacity. Part of that support is to provide the Planet Fitness FAC resources and tools to perform day-to-day operational duties on behalf of franchisees. Both organizations work together for the benefit of franchisees and the brand.
