Independent Florist Franchisee Association (1-800-Flowers)
Franchisees from the 1-800-Flowers franchise system have joined together to form the Independent Florist Franchisee Association (IFFA), in an effort to unite the approximately 150 independent franchise owners throughout the United States. The purpose of IFFA is to foster better franchisor-franchisee communications and relationships, increase franchisee awareness of company initiatives through publications and seminars, improve the brand and franchised business conditions, and generally promote and champion the interests of franchisees of the 1-800-Flowers system.
“We are excited about this step in the growth of the franchise,” said Judy Sicola, IFFA President and one of the founding members. With four locations in Houston, Texas, she is one of the brand’s largest franchisees. “This was a long time coming and is a critical step to ensuring the success of the franchise. We look forward to working with 1-800-Flowers to strengthen the relationship between the franchisees and the company, as well as helping to make this already great brand even better.”
“Franchisee associations are becoming increasingly more the norm, especially in established brands,” said Justin M. Klein, attorney with Marks & Klein, LLP, who represents several national franchisee associations, including the IFFA. “As systems grow, it is critical to have feedback from franchisees on best practices and what is going on in the stores day-to-day; franchisee associations are helping to bridge that information gap that many franchise companies have,” added Klein. “We think this is a great opportunity for the franchise group to better communicate and work together. With the support of IFFA and 1-800-Flowers, we can truly get the value out of being a part of this franchise system,” said Margaret Fleegal, a Virginiafranchisee and IFFA founding member.
“We want to be certain that the franchisees have a voice when it comes to properly planning for the continued growth and strength of the 1-800-Flowers brand and we believe that IFFA can be instrumental in helping those efforts,” concluded Sicola. “We are all very passionate about being 1-800-Flowers franchisees, we love our customers and the experience we offer, and we will do whatever we can to not only promote that, but to enhance it.”
