Buffalo Wings & Rings Signs Deal To Open 11+ Restaurants in Mexico
October 06, 2021 // FranchiseMarketingSolutions.com // Investment group Grupo Pera will open Buffalo Wings & Rings locations in three states of Mexico – Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon and Coahuila – with the first scheduled to open later this year.
With a new G4 prototype restaurant design to meet changing consumer needs, a development incentive program and a new POS System with cutting-edge technological improvements, the brand has experienced momentum over the past year.
This year, Buffalo Wings & Rings is ready to go into Mexico, thanks to Grupo Pera, the investment group who signed on to open 11 units throughout Tamaulipas, Nuevo Leon and Coahuila. The first restaurant is scheduled to open in 2021, with the rest of the 10 units scheduled to open through 2027.
Grupo Pera was founded in 1990 and is overseen by president Juan Carlos Peña and CEO Sebastian Peña. Their impressive portfolio includes real estate and gas station locations, as well as several other American franchise concepts in the restaurant sector, including KFC, Pizza Hut, Carl’s Jr. and IHOP.
“We are very excited to introduce Buffalo Wings & Rings to the people of Mexico,” said Sebastian Peña, CEO of Grupo Pera. “To open 10+ locations over 5 – 7 years is ambitious; however, we believe that our experience opening and operating numerous other top-tier global brands, such as KFC, Pizza Hut and IHOP, has provided a great foundation for growth with our new brand, Buffalo Wings & Rings. We also plan to expand with even more locations throughout Mexico, after our initial development schedule is completed.”
Thomas Flaherty, Buffalo Wings & Rings’ chief development officer, notes this is an incredibly exciting moment in the brand’s history. “I’ve been involved in international business for a long time with other brands, and it is always a humbling experience to expand into a new international market,” he said. “This is exciting for Grupo Pera and for Buffalo Wings & Rings and we look forward to a long and meaningful relationship together.”
It isn’t just about the number of locations – Flaherty notes Grupo Pera is a fantastic partner to introduce the brand to Mexico for the first time. “They have expertise in every range of the business,” he said. “It is a big win to have experienced operators like them interested in expanding with us and helping us break into such an exciting new international marketplace.”
The team is confident that Mexico will be a great international market for the Buffalo Wings & Rings concept. “This region of northern Mexico is a wonderful growth opportunity, especially given the presence of multiple Buffalo Wings & Rings restaurants just across the border in south Texas. Our organizations are also highly aligned on Core Values,” said Flaherty. “Grupo Pera are really passionate about our elevated sports restaurant concept and they believe that it will have significant appeal to the consumers in Reynosa and beyond. This venture will also create jobs and a source of fun during challenging times. While the menu will be very similar to the U.S. menu, we look forward to exploring ways to incorporate local tastes and flavors.”
Buffalo Wings & Rings has always offered a high level of franchisee support with a seasoned leadership team and support team, all of whom collaborate heavily with franchisees through weekly calls, quarterly webcasts, annual conventions and other means.
“Our organization knows that it takes a lot of things to operate successful restaurants, not least of which is: solid site locations; great operations; candid and collaborative communication with the franchisor; and an effective marketing strategy,” said Pena. “We look very forward to welcoming guests to our new restaurants, where everyone can enjoy our chef-driven menu and be treated like true VIPs!”
